W.I.S.S.C. Monthly Minute

3 things this month for Women in Sports for Social Change

Issue #28 | April 8, 2026

Hi ladies,

Bringing you another monthly installment of three quick things for Women In Sports for Social Change on this second Wednesday of the month.

Also, keep it coming with 'Woman of Wisdom' nominations for future issues of the newsletter and keep posting, sharing and connecting with each other, we have nearly 400 women in the WISSC LinkedIn group.

Thanks,
Mandy

This month's 3 things:

1. Most powerful thing I read:

Besides every last thing I can get my hands on about “moon joy” it was this powerful piece in The Players Tribune in late March by UCLA’s Lauren Betts. Incredible how she used her voice to advocate for mental health and then just two weeks later goes on to win a national championship and be named the MVP of March Madness.

2. Events & Opportunities:

Opportunities abound, a few I found for you ladies:

Nominate an incredible woman you know who's making an impact for SBJ's Game Changers awards by April 20.

Apply by April 21 for the second cohort of the Boston Creator Accelerator powered by sports and social change superstars Jaylen Brown and Jrue and Lauren Holiday.

Join a free webinar on April 29 to learn insights on 'How Sports Can Amplify What Gen Z Cares About.

Plus we are knee-deep in spring summit season: Business of Women’s Sports Summit (April 14), SBJ World Congress of Sports (April 14-16), SheBelieves Summit (April 15), Engage for Good Conference (April 21-24), Project Play Summit (May 5-6), Green Sports Alliance Summit (May 5-7), espnW NYC Summit (May 7), also, for the first time ever, Social Innovation Summit is heading to Atlanta (June 2-3).

3. JOBS:

All with salary ranges listed, because pay equity for women matters!

Executive Director, Boston SCORES (Boston, $175–$210K)

VP of Brand Marketing, GameChanger by Dick’s Sporting Goods (NYC, $225-$250K)

Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL) is hiring Athletic Trainers to help oversee the medical operations of the AUSL All Star Cup Series (August 2026, Chicago, $8,000/season)

Campaign & Engagement Lead for ‘World Cup Climate Adaptation Fund’, Football For Future (UK based/remote for 6 months, “Freelance day rate of £150–£180/day depending on experience”)
Coordinator, Soccer Forward Foundation (Atlanta, GA, “starting at $60K but for the right candidate could be more”)

Thanks for reading and being a part of this community.
